FAQs

We Answer Your Frequently Asked Questions

  • Why do my extinguishers need to be inspected?

National fire codes, enforced by your local fire district, require that certified technicians inspect all fire extinguishers. This is done to ensure that if and when an extinguisher is needed, it works properly and safely (NFPA  10).

  • How often do my fire extinguishers need to be inspected?

Extinguishers need general service at least once a year. If an extinguisher has been used or lost pressure (the dial is not in the green), it needs immediate service. Every 6 years, an extinguisher must be taken apart, examined and recharged. Every 12 years, extinguishers must be hydro tested to make sure the bottle is still serviceable and holds pressure. All American Fire Protection's technicians can provide all of these services.

  • Who keeps track of when my extinguishers need to be checked?

It is the owner’s responsibility to ensure that his fire equipment is checked in a timely fashion. When you work with All American Fire Protection, we make it easy for you by keeping a computer record of each inspection we perform. When it is time for your next inspection, we will call you or simply come out to do the inspection.

  • Will the same technician service my equipment each year?

Because our company is an employee development company and encourage our people to grow themselves, it may not be the same technician every time, however we can assure you that you will love working with each one of our experts.

  • Where can I find information on specific fire code requirements?

You may contact All American Fire Protection or your local fire department for current fire code requirements.

  • Does All American Fire Protection service both commercial and residential customers?

We service commercial sites. However, the general public may bring their fire extinguishers to our location for service.

  • Will I receive a “report” of my inspection?

Your current inspection information is shown on a tag attached to your extinguisher. A date punched on the tag of 3/13 means the extinguisher is certified until 3/14.

  • How often are extinguishers used on fires?

All American Fire Protection recharges over 7,500 extinguishers a year; our technicians report that over 80% are used to put out a fire.

  • Where can my group or family receive training on how to use an extinguisher?

All American Fire Protection offers regular on-site training on how to use a fire extinguisher. Fires can double in size in 10 seconds, so you must be able to act quickly and effectively when using an extinguisher. We will educate and train your team if needed. Please contact All American Fire Protection for more information.
